Beatrice Lillie was a succesful stage actress and singer from Canada. She performed extensively in the U.S. and England throughout the mid-20th century and was known as a ground-breaking female comedienne. She is shown here performing on Herman Hupfeld's 1937 Honey Ma' Love with androgynous flapper look popularized in the 1920's and 1930's. Performers such as Lillie paved the way for future category bending personalities such as Grace Jones.
